Membership dues are paid yearly.  Licensed members pay $40 and non-licensed members pay $30 for membership.  A three-year membership is also available.  Licensed members pay $90 and non-licensed members pay $70.

Members are split into licensed members (those who have a license through the state of Florida) and non-licensed members, which includes students, registered interns, and professionals working in the mental health community who are not licensed.

The Board of Directors are members who volunteered to serve on the Board and were elected into office.  The offices include president, vice president, secretary, and a treasurer.  A Board member serves for one year.  Not all Board members must be licensed.

There are five standing committees: legislative action, education and training, membership, community relations, and student affairs.    The committee chairs are appointed by the president and voted on by the board.  All committee chairs serve on the board and have voting privileges, except the student affairs chair.

SCMHCA hosts four workshops each year.  More information about the workshops can be found here.  Members are always welcome to suggest topics and speakers for the organization to use. They can contact the training and education committee chair.

SCMHCA hosts annual meet-and-greets and Counselor Connections for members to meet and mingle with other mental health professionals.  Registered interns and students do monthly get-togethers at coffee houses or bars to talk about internship and employment.  SCMHCA also welcomes any ideas for future networking members may have.

Members can sit on the board, be a committee chair, or serve on a committee.  At times, special committees are made to plan member events or community outreach events.  Members can help chair or serve on those committees.  All members are welcome to come to monthly board meetings, which are held every third week

One of SCMHCA’s goals is to increase awareness about mental health in the local community.  Mental health screenings and education are ways we try to reach the local community.  We also try to link people in the community with mental health resources and professionals.
